6 aHaving gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if bprophecy, cin proportion to our faith; 7if dservice, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; ethe one who leads, ▼▼Or gives aid
with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with gcheerfulness. 2 Corinthians 8:1-3
Encouragement to Give Generously
1We want you to know, brothers, ▼▼Or brothers and sisters
about the grace of God that has been igiven among the churches of Macedonia, 2for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and jtheir extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3For they gave kaccording to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 2 Corinthians 8:7-8
7But as lyou excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you ▼▼Some manuscripts in your love for us
— nsee that you excel in this act of grace also. 8 oI say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.
2 Corinthians 8:12
12For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable paccording to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
